For an institution of the University of Kentucky Gill Heart & Vascular Institute's stature, an annual report needed to accomplish more than documenting achievement — it needed to capture the full weight of a mission dedicated to advancing the fight against heart disease and stroke across Kentucky and beyond.
The overarching concept connected legacy and innovation into a single, cohesive narrative arc, opening with the transformative 1997 founding financial gift from Linda and Jack Gill and building toward the Institute's current leadership in cutting-edge cardiovascular treatment, research and patient outcomes. Content was structured to guide a broad audience of donors, patients and community stakeholders through the Institute's multidisciplinary model by weaving together the categories of clinical excellence, therapeutic innovation and the deeply human stories at the center of it all. Clear, accessible language ensured that complex medical achievements resonated well beyond the clinical community.
The visual strategy translated that narrative into a clean, modern design grounded in a refined color palette evoking cardiovascular themes, strong typographic hierarchy and high-quality photography that placed physicians and patients at the forefront. Infographics distilled key outcomes and research milestones into compelling, digestible visuals. The result was an annual report that positioned the UK Gill Heart & Vascular Institute with both the authority of a national leader and the warmth of an institution that never loses sight of the people it serves.
